  Past Performances Include..

1998 – 2000 Matt McFarlane played at the Maxwell & Madden clubs on the Holsworthy Army Barracks on a fortnightly basis with the cover band ‘Fuse’. The band also played a function at Victoria Barracks (Sydney) to welcome back Major General Cosgrove after East Timor.

2001 Matt played the Maxwell Club (Holsworthy) on a fortnightly basis, solo this time, though sometimes he was accompanied by friends. Matt also played at the Observer Hotel (The Rocks, Sydney).

2002 Matt returned home to Melbourne due to sustaining an injury after a gig in Sydney that left him in a coma. Venues he played at throughout his rehabilitation were. The Armidale Hotel, Gembrook Pub, Pakenham Hotel, Ruby’s Belgrave (opening for ‘Picasso’s Mirror’), Madeline’s (Mordialloc), and the Rochester Castle (Fitzroy).

In 2003 Matt performed at and ran the Rochester Castle’s Tuesday ‘Open Mic’ night for abit over a year.

2004 Matt played at The Laundry (Fitzroy), The Barley Corn (Collingwood) The House of Fools (Footscray), Vibe on Smith (Fitzroy), The Beehive Hotel (Hawthorn), The Bender Bar (Thornbury) 303 (Northcote), Yak Speakeasy (now IDGAFF), and Soak Bar (Collingwood).

2005 Matt played at the beginning of the Bender Bar’s ’Open Mic’ night on almost a weekly basis, as well as other ‘Solo’ performances during the week supporting other artists there. Matt also played at the Vibe Café (Fitzroy), The Art House (Melbourne), Barbukka (Fitzroy), The Wesley Anne (Northcote), the Renown Tavern (Fitzroy), and at the Northcote R.S.L.

2006 Matt began running an ‘Open Mic’ at the ‘Sagi Bar’ in Northcote which ran for 2 years. Matt also ran the ‘Open Mic’ Night at All Nations Backpackers (Melbourne) for 6 months in this period. He was seen at other venues such as Cornish Arms (Brunswick), and at the Edinborough Castle (for the Bob Dylan tribute).

2007 Matt continued running the Sagi Bar’s ‘Open Mic’ night and also playing original music on a Thursday night residency with another solo artist Jayden. This was included in Northcote’s ‘High Vibes’ festival of 2007. Matt also played at the Ember Lounge (Northcote), The Stork Hotel (Melbourne), 303 (Northcote), The Town Hall Hotel (South Melbourne), Hardimans (Kensington) for ‘Wax Lyrical‘, The Bender Bar (Thornbury), The Empress Hotel (Brunswick), and The Birmingham Hotel, (Fitzroy).

2008 Matt played at Federation Square (Melbourne) as a Finalist for The ‘Yooralla’ Jingle. He also played at IDGAFF (Collingwood), CERES (Brunswick), and at The Esplanade Hotel (St Kilda) for ‘Roarhouse‘.

2009 – Matt ran the Grandview Hotel’s (West Brunswick) ‘Open Mic’ night and was also seen at B’Artiste Lounge/Bar (Frankston). He also started running the Brunswick Hotel’s ‘Open Mic’ night at this time.

2010 – Matt continued to run the Brunswick Hotel’s ‘Open Mic’ for another year. He also played at the Roisin Dubb (Brunwick), B’Artiste Lounge/Bar (Frankston), and at the Frankston Festival.

2011 – On 11/11/11 Matt released his self titled 4 track EP ‘Eleven Eleven’. He also played at ‘B’Artiste Lounge Bar & Cafe’ (Frankston), Frankston Festival, Roisin Dub (Brunswick).

2012 – Matt performed at the Bendigo Hotel, Gertrudes Brown Couch (Fitzroy), Thornbury Local (Thornbury).

2013 – Bar Oussou (Brunswick), Ascot Vale Hotel (Ascot Vale).

2014 – Tago Mago (Thornbury), Purple Emerald (Thornbury), Whole Lotta Love (East Brunswick).

2015 – Thornbury Local (Thornbury), Tago Mago (Thornbury), Purple Emerald (Thornbury), My Handlebar (Brunswick), Baxters Lot (Fitzroy).
2016 – Ascot Vale Hotel (Ascot Vale), Tago Mago (Thornbury).
2017 – Matt ran the Tago Mago (Thornbury) Open Mic for a year and a half. Combining it with Tribute nights.
2018 – Tago Mago (Thornbury), Northcote Social Club (Northcote), Ascot Vale Hotel (Ascot Vale).
2019 – Matt ran the Ascot Vale Hotel Open Mic night for over a year until the first Covid Lockdown in Melbourne and the Pub was then sold. Matt had played at the Open Mic since it first started years before in 2013.

2022 – Odessa Bar in Creswick, Aunty Jacks in Ballarat.
2023 – Victoria Hotel in Creswick.
